KARLA HERNANDEZ DECUIR
As an immigrant from Guatemala City, Dr. DeCuir arrived to the U.S. at the age of 12 to become the highest-ranking Latina at a state university. She grew up in the city of New Orleans and in 2006, after Hurricane Katrina, moved to Houston, Texas where she now lives with her husband, two kids and mother. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of New Orleans, she earned an MBA and a Master of Management in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix and she recently completed a Doctor of Education in Professional Leadership from the University of Houston.
