Born and raised in Guatemala, Dora (also known by her middle name “Nineth”) immigrated to the US at age 17 pursuing the American dream which she could not clearly define at the time except that it had to do with better opportunities. Despite many hardships including discrimination, she always had a “don’t-give-up” attitude. With personal resolve and determination, she completed her college education, got a Master’s, has a professional career, and raised a family mostly as a single parent. But she’s not done yet. Her dreams keep growing and evolving every year overcoming barriers with a “Si se puede” attitude.
